Mrs. St. Clair,
I just wanted to say how grateful we are, to have people as dedicated as you are that support the troops. My unit is currently deployed in Afghanistan, and receiving your care packages makes everyone day. The care packages you
send are full of goodies that we are in much need of.
Again thank you very much.

Hello,
Happy Holidays to you all. My name is John R. and I am a CPT with the 3-16 FAR with 2BCT 4ID. We are the unit that replaced 7-10 CAV out here in Northwestern Afghanistan. Our Battalion is spread out across an area roughly the size of Tennessee, with only 400 or so Soldiers available to support each other. We cover two provincial areas, Badghis and Herat, in Afghanistan and have helped begin the transition of the country back to its own government (GIROA-Governmental Islamic Republic of Afghanistan)
I just wanted to give that little bit of background so that you knew who we were. But now, I want to thank you all. Thank you so much for the support you have shown by continuing this program, sending care packages to us out here. The little gifts and goodies that you have sent to us really lifts our spirits. While the snacks and personal hygiene items, in and of themselves are great, it is just nice to know that there are people back in the states who actually care enough to send us some mail. And just getting something in the mail is always a morale booster no matter what it is. It lets us know that we are not forgotten and that what we are doing out here, separated from friends, family and home, is actually worthwhile and appreciated.
Thank you again for the support that you’ve given to us. Take care, and God bless.
Very Respectfully,
CPT John R.

On behalf of A Battery 3-16 Field Artillery, I would like to extend our thanks to you for the packages which you sent to our Battalion. It means a great deal to our soldiers to be supported by people like yourself and your organization. The packages you sent us were an excellent morale booster and were something that we all are grateful for. Virtually every soldier in our battery benefited from your kindness. The contents were perfect, ranging from candies and hard to come by snack foods, to basic toiletries. These were an immense help to our soldiers who were spent a good portion of our
deployment forward in COPs that were difficult to resupply. Wet Wipes and toiletries are a luxury that no soldier is to content to accept and makes the difference when its 20 degrees outside and the showers are frozen.
Your baked goods were also a fantastic relief from the routine army food, and typically last only a few minutes once the packages are open. The few items that we did not use ourselves we passed on to the Afghans whom we were working with. In a country where our common day to day items are a rare luxury, your gifts went a long way in making an impact on the lives of both US servicemen as well as the Afghans we worked with, and I would like to personally thank you for your continued support and commitment to the US Army.
Thank you again for your support

Dear Mary,
Thank you for your continued support. I did see that some of the boxes that you sent to my previous unit made it there. I was out there doing some change of command things with equipment and was able to meet up with members of 3-16 FAR. They extend their thanks as well. We are on the down slope of deployment and will be preparing to go home in the upcoming months.
There are a lot of changes going on out here as we close up the West in Afghanistan. I am down south now and will take command very shortly once the property books are completed. If possible please continue to send the care packages to my old unit but address it to CPT Dan (Robert) R., my replacement there, so as to avoid confusion. I've had some packages get stuck in a postal loop trying to find me at my new area. I know my guys will appreciate the boxes and they will need them more than me.
Thank you again for all the support and I hope this finds you well. As the winter season draws to a close I wish you the very best and thank you for all that you are doing for the deployed service members of 3-16th FAR.
God bless.

Dear Ma'am,
Thank you for replying. I will go to the website you mentioned and leave a message there for everyone. The package we received didn’t originally come to me, but it went to our Command Tactical Operations Center (TOC) and when I asked I was allowed to grab one for my Soldiers. I’m the OIC for the S6 section and we deal with and control the communications for our Battalion. My Soldiers are scattered across the entire Area of Operations across this area attached to different Batteries.
As you know we cover a pretty large area and are separated from a lot of our guys. We try as hard as we can to visit the sites as much as possible, especially for those of us in the communications world it is a necessity.
I will do what I can to get a picture of my guys with the stuff that was sent out sent to you soon. We really appreciate the gifts and goodies you have sent out to us. It certainly does help out a lot to know that people back home care as much as they do and keep us in your minds. The fact that complete strangers are willing to give up their time to give a little something to Soldiers they've never met on the other side of the world is one that fills me with hope and puts smiles on all of my Soldier's faces.
Thank you again, and we will get a picture sent out to you soon.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I just wanted to send you a message if you are in fact the people who have sent out the awesome care packages to deployed troops.
My name is Johnny R. and I am a Captain in the US Army with the 4th Infantry Division 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3-16 Artillery Regiment. My Soldiers and I received a care package with a lot of wonderful goodies, home made and otherwise, labeled with the Alexander Valley Ladies Aid tag as well as the information for this church.
I just wanted to extend our thanks and appreciation for taking the time to put these packages together and sending them out to us. It really does put a smile on our faces when we know that people we've never even met are supporting us back home.
Thank you again, and God bless.
Sincerely,
Johnny James R.

Thank you so much for all the care packages! I am a contractor installing armor kits on MATV's in Afghanistan right now and all the other guys I shared the packages with were most grateful too. Especially the brownies! They boosted morale around here for sure.
Thanks again!

Dear Mary,
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
Thank you for all that you've done. We've been getting the gift boxes and are greatly appreciative of them. I was on leave during the Thanksgiving period and back home with my family. I was able to arrive in time to see the birth of my first child. It was amazing. I don't know how people have children already deploy as they do. This was by far the hardest one for me to return to.
Your boxes continued to come in while I was away and my Soldiers thoroughly enjoyed them. Sadly, I came back with orders moving me down South. I had to leave the Soldiers that I deployed and worked with to take command of a Brigade Headquarters company south of Kandahar.
I just arrived here a few days ago, and am getting adjusted. I have a much larger responsibility here as a commander than I did as a section OIC, but I’m sure Ill settle into the role.
If you want to keep sending the care packages to my guys up in Herat, I’m sure they will enjoy them.
But if you want to add another address to your mailing list I am now at
